At Forge Valley School & Sixth Form, A Level Biology enables students to develop a deeper understanding of living organisms and the complex interactions that sustain life. Building on the foundations established at GCSE, students investigate biological systems from the molecular and cellular level through to whole organisms, populations and ecosystems. The course encourages students to explore the living world through scientific enquiry, practical investigation and evidence-based reasoning.

Students study a wide range of topics including biological molecules, cells, genetics, evolution, ecosystems, physiology and gene expression. As they progress, they develop an increasingly sophisticated understanding of how biological systems function, adapt and interact, while refining the practical and analytical skills required to investigate complex scientific questions.

A Level Biology develops highly valued skills including research, data analysis, critical thinking and scientific communication. The qualification provides an excellent foundation for higher education and careers in areas such as medicine, healthcare, veterinary science, biomedical science, environmental science, ecology and biological research.
