The secondary school day begins at 8:40am and ends at 3:00pm. This is 31 hours 40 minutes per week.

School doors open at 8:00am, allowing students to arrive in good time and enjoy a calm, positive start to the day. From 8:00am, students may access the canteen for breakfast and spend time socialising with friends in designated supervised areas.

To ensure student safety and effective supervision, corridors and staircases leading to form rooms are not open until 8:30am. At this point, students make their way to their form bases, ready for registration.

In The Event Of A School Closure

It is always the school’s aim to remain open except in the most extreme circumstances when we are forced to close because there is a risk to the health and safety of students, staff and visitors.

Parents will be informed of school closure in the following ways:

  • A message will be posted on the school website as soon as a decision is made
  • A text message will be sent to all parents (please ensure we have your up to date mobile phone number)
  • There will be an announcement sent to BBC Radio Sheffield
  • We will update our Twitter and Facebook feeds.

Closure will be avoided wherever possible. Please do not contact the school in bad weather to check whether school is open. Unless announced as above, we will be open.

Parents should be aware that in extreme weather conditions significant staff or student absences may result in emergency timetabling being put into effect.

Should weather conditions deteriorate during the school day and a decision to close school is taken, parents will be informed by text and students with permission will be sent home with a letter of explanation.
