Uniform Guidance
Uniform is worn at Forge Valley School & Sixth Form to create an environment that focuses on school performance, not individual appearance. The guidelines are intended to help parents and pupils make correct judgements about the school clothes and accessories.
Parents and pupils are responsible for following the uniform guidelines.

Expectations and Guidance
The approved uniform should be worn by all pupils during school hours. The general rule is that pupils’ clothing at Forge Valley should be appropriate for work at school.
- Blazer - Forge Valley branded blazer
- Tie - Forge Valley red and black tie or Prefect tie
- Shirt - Plain white tailored, collared long or short sleeved shirt (with a top button)
- Jumper (Optional) - Forge Valley branded black Jumper
- Trousers - Plain black formal tailored trousers with a front pleat/crease in suit type material. Must not be tight fitting.
- Skirt - Plain black knee length skirt in suit type material. Must not be tight fitting. Please see example diagrams.
- Footwear - Plain black formal smart shoes. Black leather boots may be worn in winter but must be worn under the trousers. No Ugg style boots nor no ballet pumps. No black trainers.
- Socks & Tights - Plain black ankle or below the knee socks. Plain solid black e.g. 40 denier.
- Belts - Plain black attached to waistband.
- Coats, Hats, Scarves & Gloves - Only to be worn outside the building.
Jewellery - No more than the following may be worn:
- One pair of studs or small rings, one in each ear
- One ring on each hand
- One necklace worn inside the clothes
- One bracelet
- One watch
- No facial or tongue piercings including plastic retainers.
Makeup and False Nails
- Discreet makeup and no false eyelashes. e.g. light foundation or mascara is acceptable, but heavy eyeliner or lipstick is not.
- No False nails/Acrylic nails.
PE Kit
Compulsory:
- Royal blue Forge Valley branded T shirt
- Navy blue sports shorts
- Trainers – no pumps or converse
- Hair bobble for long hair.
Optional:
- Plain navy blue / black sweatshirt with no logos or Forge branded hooded top
- Plain navy blue or black tracksuit bottoms or leggings – no logos
- Waterproof sports jacket (any colour).
- Hair should be neat and tidy
- We recommend that long hair is tied back to avoid the transfer of head lice
- Long hair must always be tied back for PE lessons.
- The school does not permit children to have extreme haircuts or colour.
We understand that some parents need to source a cheaper school uniform for their child. The British Red Cross charity shop on Middlewood Road, Hillsborough sell second hand items of school uniform at a more affordable price. Please ask to see the range of Forge Valley School uniform when visiting the store as they only have a few items on display; the rest is kept in stock.
As always, should buying school uniform be a financial hardship and prevent you from buying the necessary items for your child, please contact us.
Any pupil who does not conform to the school uniform policy, will be dealt with within the normal structure of disciplinary procedures and parents will be contacted. Pupils, where appropriate, will be sent home to change into school uniform.
