At Forge Valley School & Sixth Form, Health & Social Care enables students to develop a deeper understanding of human development, health and wellbeing, and the provision of care across a range of settings. Through the study of health, social care, psychology, sociology and professional practice, students explore the complex factors that influence individuals throughout their lives.
Students investigate a range of contemporary issues including human growth and development, equality and diversity, safeguarding, public health and the delivery of effective care services. They develop an understanding of the responsibilities of health and social care professionals while analysing how services support individuals with diverse needs and circumstances.
The course develops highly valued skills including communication, research, critical thinking, analysis and evaluation. Through case studies and applied learning, students learn to assess needs, interpret information and make evidence-based judgements. Health & Social Care provides an excellent foundation for higher education, apprenticeships and careers within healthcare, nursing, social work, education, public health and related sectors.
