At Forge Valley School & Sixth Form, A Level Art & Design provides students with the opportunity to develop as independent, creative and reflective practitioners. Students build upon the technical and analytical skills developed at GCSE, exploring personal interests and themes while developing a deeper understanding of artistic processes, concepts and visual communication.
Students work with a range of media and techniques while researching artists, designers and cultural influences that inform their practice. They are encouraged to investigate ideas independently, take creative risks and refine their work through experimentation, evaluation and critical reflection. Projects become increasingly personalised, allowing students to develop a distinctive artistic voice and produce ambitious outcomes.
A Level Art & Design develops creativity, resilience, problem-solving and independent research skills that are highly valued in higher education and employment. The course provides an excellent foundation for progression into subjects such as Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, Architecture, Fashion, Photography and other creative disciplines.
