Key Stage 3 Overview (Years 7–9, Ages 11–14)

At Key Stage 3, students follow a broad and balanced curriculum designed to build strong foundations for future learning. Our year groups are organised into three bands — X, Y and Z — helping us tailor the learning experience to each cohort.

Maths

Students in all three year groups are taught in ability-based sets, ensuring everyone receives the right level of challenge and support.

Design & Technology

KS3 students take part in rotating DT projects throughout the year. This gives them hands‑on experience across a variety of disciplines and ensures a rich, practical learning journey.

Foundation Learning (Year 7)

Some Year 7 students may be invited to join our Foundation Learning programme. This pathway supports learners who would benefit from extra help in Numeracy and Literacy. These pupils are taught in smaller groups and are withdrawn from mainstream English, Maths, History, Geography, and Spanish to receive more focused support.

Compulsory Subjects

All subjects at Key Stage 3 are compulsory, ensuring every student receives a well-rounded education that prepares them for Key Stage 4 and beyond.
