SEMH Hub
Social, Emotional and Mental Health Hub (SEMH)
At Forge Valley School we are passionate about dealing with any barriers that a young person may face. We recognise that life can be tough at times and we would genuinely like to be proactive in working with our young people so that problems or issues can be dealt with. We want to deal with issues before they impact on your child’s wellbeing, happiness and academic performance. The SEMH Hub is just one of our tools to support young people and is used to provide high levels of support and challenge to pupils.
Our SEMH Hub covers a range of different interventions such as: Anger Management, Meditation, Demonstrating Good Behaviour, Building Self Esteem, Dealing with Exam Pressure and Art Therapy. We also have programmes for pupils who may need to build self-confidence and a programme around promoting a positive mindset in relation to body image.
Each of the SEMH Hub Interventions will run for a period of 6 weeks. Sessions take place within the school day in a small group setting; some, however, run on a 1 to 1 basis.
Please read through all of the interventions on offer and discuss them with your child. Enrolment is of course not compulsory and is used on an individual basis. Your child may not need to be enrolled at this moment, but they may need to use it in the future. Experience tells us that if an application comes directly from the family, there is a higher level of buy in and engagement from the child.
Finally, it is important to note that the SEMH Hub is only part of our process to support young people. As always, please do continue to consult with your child’s Form Tutor, Head of Year or a member of the Safeguarding Team in school. You can find more about safeguarding support on the Safeguarding section of our website.
You will also find on this page a summary of each programme and how you or your child can make an application to attend an intervention.
